The idea of fusing explosive solo guitar pyrotechnics, and anchoring them within the confines of progressive  rock is in itself a fascinating philosophy. What's the end result? Enter Tim "the speed demon" Bertsch who shares his passion for solo guitar with Seven Against Thebes. An accomplished writer, teacher, and performer Tim's guitar virtuoso is as much mesmerizing as it is explosive in it's delivery. Anyone who has ever heard Tim perform before, either live or in the studio knows he is without a doubt a premier undiscovered talent in the Pacific Northwest. But what makes Tim so ethereal in nature is his multi-cultural approach to the fret board. Along with the guitar, Tim is also an accomplished Sitar, Mandolin, and Spike Fiddle player.

Tim's primary guitar influences include; Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Django Reinhardt, Al Di Meola, John McLaughlin, Paco De Lucia, Kitaro, and Jerry Cantrell (Alice in Chains), just to name a few.

Tim has a degree in music, and regularly plays in multiple musical projects simultaneously, while conducting lessons, workshops, and guitar clinics with literally hundreds of students. Never one to stand still for long, Tim has an amazing talent for bringing things together while moving through the many musical boundaries that exist between jazz-fusion, pop, rock, & even folk music.
